Living room floor plan
Explore a 5 m by 4 m living room as a starting point for a seating layout. Add measured sofas, chairs and tables to see how the furniture works with the room’s entrances and focal points.

How to approach this layout
Place the largest sofa first, then add the routes people use to cross the room. Compare a layout focused on conversation with one oriented towards a screen or fireplace. Review both in 3D from a seated viewpoint, because the relationship between tall furniture and windows is not obvious in plan.
What to measure and check
- Measure all entrances and the direction each door opens.
- Record the projection of fireplaces, radiators and built-in storage.
- Include side tables and the space needed to reach seating.
- Check that the everyday route through the room does not cut across the main seating group.

A useful comparison to make
Compare conversation and screen-viewing layouts using the same furniture set.
From starting size to a plan you can discuss
- Open the furnished example and adjust its dimensions to match your measurements.
- Move the example door and window to their measured positions. Replace or resize the furniture to match the items you own or plan to buy.
- Compare your alternatives in plan and 3D. Save your local project file so you can return to it.
