Compare renovation layout alternatives

Make each alternative answer a specific client question. Our worked kitchen and dining example keeps an existing arrangement and two island proposals in the same project.

No account or card needed for evaluation. Your local project saves in this browser.

Work through the example

  1. Keep an existing-layout reference

Begin from a measured plan and retain the existing arrangement before making proposal changes. The example includes an Existing arrangement design option. This is an illustrative starting point, not a survey of a real client property.

  2. Name the decision

In this example the question is how to orient a 2.4 m kitchen island while keeping a separate dining area. Proposal A places the island across the room. Proposal B turns the same island through 90 degrees. Both retain the same room shell, cabinets and windows so the comparison stays focused.

  3. Open and change an option

Open the example and use the design options workspace to select the existing layout or either proposal. Select the island in 2D and change its position, rotation or dimensions. Keep your own alternatives clearly named so the client knows which layout is under discussion.

  4. Check circulation and review in 3D

Check the space around the island, access to the fridge and the room entrance, and the space needed to use the dining table. Review the model in 3D as a second view of the same layout. Product opening requirements and practical clearances still need your professional review.

  5. Export the option you mean to discuss

Select the intended proposal before opening Share and exporting its PDF. Give the output a clear option name and retain the editable project for the next revision. Our sample PDF shows Proposal A; your exported drawing reflects your own active layout.

Before using your own proposal

  • Keep the same room dimensions when comparing furniture arrangements.
  • Record which design option is active before exporting.
  • Review doors, appliance access and circulation in both the plan and the model.

Questions about this workflow

What changes between the two example proposals?

The island’s orientation changes. The example keeps an existing arrangement and both proposal models, so you can inspect the differences without redrawing the room.

Can I edit and export both alternatives for evaluation?

Yes. Try the local editor and download evaluation outputs without an account. Professional is required for commercial client work and adds cloud saving and shared review.
